HR friends, please do not brand me as a poor team player after reading this article about people. This article is impersonal and also fictitious (per se) as well.
Business schools promote this, Opinion leaders preach about this, students bluff during interviews saying they have learnt this so called "Team work". Though even I have mastered the art of saying I am a good team player, I feel I have never got the experience of working in teams - for all academics related activities, if its co-curricular activities, I find people make me dumb and everyone gets highly involved in most of the happenings ditching me..lol....
Loosely speaking, team work happens only per se especially from my experience wherein I was made the victim of doing all the work till the end of my PGPM or MBA. People try to make the highly committed student (in this case it’s me... lol...) to perform all the work and they get busy flirting around.
But still why the hell are you doing everything? Are you mad? Just don’t do it and see what happens??
I can understand your question. I tried the same and my team mates helped me in increasing the liabilities of my brand equity i.e. spoiled my image as well...
This article though, Initially I planned to write out of complete frustration, I am changing my focus on what can be done(Trying to be emotionally intelligent now..lol). I feel business schools wherein this happens (the quality of students is not all that great... again it includes me :-( ), the academicians should make sure that all the students put in efforts through relative marking (students marketing their peer group) which is being followed internationally, and also through espionage (get the help from one nerd or people pleaser who will be interested in leaking out all the facts).
So to everyone, please stop preaching about team work when it is not implemented or rather happening at the ground level. Instead think about the tactics that can be used to make it happen.
Team mates, c'mon... stop bitching about me... let’s face the reality!!!
